The remit for Nature Partnerships from government is no small task, work strategically to improve the environment and at the same time contribute to better health and wellbeing of local communities and economic growth. This approach makes absolute sense, the natural environment is connected to every aspect of our lives and vital to our health and economic success however making it happen so that we truly make a difference is the challenge.
Finding our space and identifying where and how we could add value was a long journey, as much good work is already being carried. We have organisations already delivering excellent projects, some of our partners have the power and means to deliver change on their own and the message of the importance of the environment to every aspect of our lives is a complicated one.
After trial and error, progress reviews and tweaking of initial ideas we have been able to confidently find our space, understand where we can add value, show leadership and contribute to a wider environment agenda than has been done in the past.
Our success can be categorised into 3 areas; Networks, Funding and Capability North East. Through our networks we have been able to access funding to enable the NEENP to set up Capability North East. A charitable business and through our networks and engagement with business and Corporate and Social Responsibility ambitions will grow the Capability Fund, to fund landscape scale enhancements for the benefit of current and future generations.
