This past year can best be described as one of continuing development.
A consistent feature that affects what we do is uncertainty about cash flow but I am pleased to observe that this seems to have stabilized somewhat.
Considerable success has already been achieved in the realization of our strategy and I must record both the input and unwavering support of our partners who have signed up to the strategy of “a thriving natural environment providing for a healthier and wealthier North East”
We have developed and grown our partnerships with the NELEP, NECA, the Health and Wellbeing Boards, NECC, Tourist organisations and major players in the private sector who recognize the economic gains to be wrought from support for our mission.
Our aim is to become a self-financing and sustainable organization taking steps to consolidate relationships with our partners; the establishment of the Capability Foundation is tangible evidence of our longer-term view about valuing our environment.
We have taken a key decision to actively promote the Investors in the Environment scheme to celebrate best practice and help organisations both large and small to shape their approach to environmental stewardship.
Much of the work is entirely attributable to our small team of enthusiastic and diligent executive officers with the support of our Partnership Executive.
My hope for the the next twelve months is that we continue to develop and grow the Partnership at a sustainable pace, the ultimate beneficiaries will be our wonderful natural environment, its flora, fauna and not forgetting ourselves.
I must also record my thanks to the Durham Wildlife Trust for their continuing support for what I know is the leading LNP in the country, but you’d expect the North East to lead the way wouldn’t you?
