Blog no 1: What can businesses do to become more sustainable/ boost their green credentials?

Want to save money and reduce the impact of your business on the environment? Then become Investors in the Environment accredited.

TheNorth East England Nature Partnership is pleased to support the iiE accreditation scheme, it is aimed at businesses of all sizes and as a simpler and more flexible alternative to ISO4001.  It makes the sustainability journey more interesting, shares the responsibility across the organisation and importantly works with your business operations.

UK businesses contributes to 17% of green house cases.  If businesses commit to reviewing their practices to reduce waste, improve efficiencies and use more local (where appropriate) and greener suppliers (energy, paper etc) they can find many ways to reduce their carbon contributions.  The iiE scheme supports members in this process, rewards their efforts and is able to build a picture of the progress business in a local area is making.   The NEENP recommends local businesses of all sizes review their existing sustainability practices or just as importantly start their sustainability journey and give serious consideration to becoming an iiE member to make sure their efforts are recognised and make new contacts along the way.

Please support your NEENP to support businesses in North East England to leave smaller activity footprints on the environment each year.
